Guildford City Swimming Club established in 1889, currently has close to 700 members ranging from the youngest “Academy” swimmers of 4 years old through to Masters Swimmers of pensionable age! Since 1998 GCSC has become one of the leading clubs in the South East of England and has lead the way in Surrey, winning seven consecutive annual County Age Group Championships 2004 to 2010.
GCSC is one of only a few ASA Swim21 Performance Clubs in the South East Region and employs two ASA Level 4 Coaches plus an additional twenty six professionally qualified ASA Coaches & Teachers including its own in–house chartered physiotherapist & nutritionist.
We have been the South East Region National Arena Swimming League Champions for five straight years 2005 to 2009 and was Guildford Borough Council Junior Sports Team of the Year 2005 to 2007. The Club has successfully placed a swimmer on the Great Britain European Junior Youth Olympics or European Junior Championships Squad from 2003 to 2008.
In July 2009 a strategic partnership was announced between the University of Surrey & GCSC. As a result, commencing April 2010 GCSC has moved it’s High Performance Squads into the new Surrey Sports Park 50m Pool and the GCSC coaches led by Chief Coach Richard Garfield are developing and running the University Swim Squads.
