The High Performance Squads continue the winning tradition started in 1998, which has seen Guildford City rise up the competitive ranks in the region to become the No.1 swimming club in both Surrey & the South East of England.
Swimmers
· Swimmers of eight years and upwards are invited to join the High Performance Squads based upon meeting a number of criteria including achieving 200m qualifying times (for details visit - www.guildfordcitysc.com – squad qualifying times ),showing a commitment to the High Performance training and competition regime & attending the required squad training hours.
· A strong work ethic is essential with a serious attitude towards achieving personal success in the sport.
· Swimmers are expected to have the aspiration & ability to compete at national events, and to achieve success at regional & county level. Many High Performance athletes will represent Surrey and the South East Region in both competition and training squads. Several are expected to represent their country in international meets and training groups.
· Progression through the High Performance Squad System will be determined by age, training commitment, perceived work ethic, competitive performance and the ability to handle constructive criticism. All promotion decisions are made in consultation with parents & swimmer.

· National Youth, National Age Group & Regional Squads are exclusively based at the Surrey Sports Park/ University of Surrey facility.
· County Squad train at both the Surrey Sports Park & the Guildford Spectrum.
· Sharks train exclusively at the Guildford Spectrum.

Training: Pool sessions - 20 hours (10 sessions) per week @ Surrey Sports Park plus 4 x dry land training sessions
Competitions: British Championships, National Youth Championships, Regional & County Championships, Level 1 & Level 2 Licensed Open Meets plus National Arena Swimming League.
Squad members are expected to play an important mentorship role for the younger swimmers in the club
National Age Group Squad
Boys 13 to 15 years – Girls 12 to 15 years

Boys & Girls – 8 to 11 years

Training: Pool sessions - 8 hours (5 sessions) per week @ Surrey Sports Park and Spectrum Leisure Centre.
Competitions: Regional & County Championships, Level 1 & Level 2 Licensed Open Meets, Club Championships plus National Arena Swimming League.
Sharks
Boys & Girls – 8 to 10 years
Lead Coach – Vicky Preece
Assistant Coach – Various
Training: Pool sessions - 6 hours ( 4sessions ) per week @ the Spectrum Leisure Centre.
Squad entry – Swimmers are invited to join Sharks based upon the Coaches assessment of their ability, They must maintain minimum training hours and consistently demonstrate dedication, motivation & a strong work ethic.
Competitions: County Championships, Level 2 & Level 3 Licensed Open Meets plus the Club Championships.
